Helen Schine, age 93, a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2008 at The Jewish Home for the Elderly. Ms. Schine was born in Bridgeport, a daughter of the late , Louis Schine and Sadie Sachs Schine. After graduating from Harding High School, Ms. Schine attended Butler Business School. Then, in a career that spanned nearly 50 years at The City Lumber Company, she was Executive Secretary to two consecutive presidents, Ike and Nathan Schine. Ms. Schine was a life member of the Jewish Home for the Elderly of Fairfield, a volunteer for the Jewish Family Service, and a member of the Jewish Historical Society. Helen was the passionately devoted aunt to eight nephews and nieces, seven great-nephews and nieces and fou great-great nephews and nieces. In addition, several children and grandchildren of her many close friends called her Aunt Helen. So beloved was she by all of them that the inscription on her headstone may well read, "Everyone Should Have an Aunt Helen." Survivors include her beloved brother Saul Schine of Fairfield, CT., nephews and nieces: John Rudder and his wife, Marianne of Short Hills, NJ., Richard Rudder and wife, Cynthia of New York, NY., Paul Rudder and his wife, Kathleen of Mammoth Lakes, CA., Roberta Schine of New York, NY., Gary Schine and his wife, Ellen Berlinsky of Providence, RI., Debbie Linett and her husband, Alan of Sandy, Utah, Amy Schine and her husband, Tony Adrignolo of Eden, Md., Kathy Leslie and her husband Robert, of Weymouth, Mass.; great-nephews and nieces: Elizabeth Lemongelli and her husband, Christopher, Tinton Falls, N.J., David Rudder and his wife, Joelle of Denver, Colo., Michael Rudder of New York, N.Y., Adam Berlinsky-Schine of Seattle, Wash., Laura Berlinsky-Schine of Providence, RI., Allison Harris and her husband, Trevor of Murray, Utah., Eric Linett of Sandy, Utah., Daniel Rudder and his wife, Tascha of San Francisco, Calif., and by great -great nephews and nieces, Jackson Lemongelli of Tinton Falls, N.J., Alora and Liam Rudder of Denver, Colo. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday August 20,2008 at 1p.m. from The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home 88 Beach Road in Fairfield with interment following at The Hebrew Sick Benefit Association Cemetery on Black Rock Tpke. in Fairfield. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Jewish Home for the Elderly for their care and concern.
